SEPTEMBER THOUGHTS

Welcome!
We welcome all of our former students and new students and their families to Lake Hills Elementary School for the 2008-2009 year. We have had a great start to the school year. The classrooms are full of eager young learners and it is very exciting here. As one of our teachers put it, “There is a hum in this building now.”

MEAP Coming Soon
This year the MEAP testing will take place between October 14 and October 30. It is very important that your child be in school every day and all day during this testing window. Please do not schedule medical appointments during this time. There are many sections to the tests and the state has established certain days to administer each section. MEAP will be given at Lake Hills to all third, fourth, and fifth graders. Please watch backpacks for letters from the district and our school regarding MEAP information.

Northshore PTA

We would like to encourage you to join the Northshore PTA and to consider volunteering your time and talents to this supportive organization. Our PTA provides fantastic field trips, assemblies, family events, and so much more to students and families. They work to enhance the educational experiences of all students who learn at Lake Hills School. It costs only $5 to become a member.

Parking, Drop-off, Pick-up
If you are dropping off students to the lower pod area in the morning, please do not park your car in that area. If you wish to go to the playground with your children, please park in our parking lot and walk with your children to the playground. This will leave enough space for drop off.

Thank you for parking only in the lot and along the grassy side of the drive for pick up at the end of the day. If you park on the grassy side, please get close to the grass so there is plenty of room for cars to pass in the driveway.

We are trying to teach all the students to walk across to the parking lot at the crosswalks, so it is helpful if adults set a safe example. Thank you for allowing our fifth grade safety patroller to help you cross the walk.
